This flatware set is a completely service for 12 people. The pieces have never been monogrammed. The set comes in a felt lined, wooden, fitted box. Most of the pieces, other than the knives, are marked with the 3 tower mark for the city of Edinburgh, the thistle symbol for sterling silver, a duty mark of the king's head, a date letter C for the year and a maker's mark for John Graham. The knives are more modern and are married to the old set; they bear the leopard's head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter i for the year 1964 and a maker's mark for John Vander. There are a few pieces in this set with different hallmarks, which are shown in the photographs. All of the married pieces are also Georgian (early to mid 1800s) and are in the same pattern, so unless you are closely inspecting the hallmarks of all pieces, you would never know. The condition of this set is great considering the age. There is minor surface wear to the pieces, but there are no damages and no repairs. The surface wear can be buffed out by a professional if you want the pieces to have that brand new, high polish look. One of the dinner knives and two of the lunch knives have a dent to the very tip of the handle. The total sterling silver weight of the set, without the knives, is 2,260 grams or 5 pounds (the total weight with knives is 3,782 or 3.3 pounds). Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution.
