Welcome to William Sharpe Antiques. Here today for your consideration we have this superb Georgian sterling silver teapot, made by Samuel Wheatley of London, c-1811. This grand piece starts with four ball feet, rising to a simply curved lower section. The third quarter of the teapot is fluted before returning to an inverted curved top section, being finalised with a gadrooned rim. The top and lid is superbly curved and deliberately warped, reflecting the overstated fluted finial to the top. Condition is fair used, with the teapot sustaining a somewhat large dent to the base of the spout measuring approx.
This dent does not cause any issue to the functionality of the teapot, and is only noticeable at the angle. Otherwise, the teapot is in wonderful condition, being free from monogram or crest. The original timber handle is tight, the lid fits perfectly and the interior is spotless. The hallmarks are about 90% overall, with the pot, lid and finial all marked for London 1811. Don't miss this opportunity to acquire this very attractive Georgian teapot. The pot stands 18cm tall and measures about 29.5cm handle-to-spout. Unpacked, it weighs in at an impressive 567gms. To see my other items!
