Antique Georgian Britannia Sterling Silver Teniers Teapot Edward Farrell 1817
This is a stunning antique Georgian silver teapot in the Teniers style made by Edward Farrell and hallmarked in London 1817. Made with the higher quality Britannia silver it is in very good condition with no damage or repair. It sits firmly on 4 highly decorated feet and the elegant handle which incorporates a thumbpiece is fully secure. The sheer quantity of detail to the body and lid is quite amazing. There are men sitting outside a tavern, a musician, a couple sitting on a bench and another couple gardening. The lid is decorated with a lion and an eagle together with acanthus leaves etc. Weighing 32 ounces it is a heavy piece and the full set of hallmarks, including the Britannia mark, are clearly struck.
Edward Farrell was a well known and highly regarded Georgian silversmith and this is a superb example of his work. (NB any shadows shown in the photographs are merely reflections).
