A very pretty Antique Georgian Sterling Silver cream or milk jug having a round bellied body with hand-chased floral decoration surrounding a vacant cartouche, a scroll handle with anthemion leaf thumb-piece, a shaped border with a spout, a gold-gilt interior, and sitting on three cast hoofed feet. The dimensions of this fine hand-made antique silver cream jug are height 9.5 cms (3.7 inches), length 10 cms (4 inches), and it weighs approx. 126g (4.0 troy ounces).The jug is in good antique condition apart from the hallmarks. The hallmarks can be made out but are very rubbed and difficult to photograph. Centre: Makers mark (clear): SH for. 3 o'clock: Date letter (partially erased): Upper case E or F for 1800 or 1801. 6 o'clock: Duty mark (outline visible) Head of George III. 9 o'clock: Town mark (outline visible) Leopard's Head. 12 o'clock: Assay Mark (legible): Lion passant and guardant for sterling silver.
