For sale is this magnificent solid silver Georgian Tea Kettle, stand and burner made by Robert Garrard I, a famous London silversmith. The kettle is fully hallmarked for 1802, the burner & stand was apparently made later and has the date letter for 1813 (no maker's mark). The teapot is heavily chased with repousse work and engraving with shells and flowers. The handle is covered with woven straw - probably a late addition. The pot has a typical pineapple or cone form finial. The stand and burner has 3 acanthus leaf feet and is pierced and decorated with three masks of women.
With its handle raised, the kettle on the stand measures about 12 inches tall. The body of the kettle is about 7 inches in diameter. Total weight for both pieces is about 1,586 grams or about 51 troy ounces. There are two escutcheon shields - one is engraved with a tree (family crest); the other shield is blank. I have not fully polished the kettle, so there is still some work to do there! This would make a lovely gift for the upcoming holidays! Feel free to ask questions: I usually get back to you quickly. The items I sell are fully guaranteed to be as I have described them.
