C1792, BATEMAN, COMPLETE & MATCHING, ANTIQUE GEORGIAN STERLING SILVER CRUET SET. A rare and complete antique George III hallmarked sterling silver cruet.

Of excellent quality, comprising eight silver topped glass bottles within a boat shaped stand, made by the famous silversmithing family - Peter and Ann Bateman, and dating to the. Late 18th century, circa 1792. The stand is of oval boat shape with a mahogany wooden base, standing on four shell form feet.

The outer surface is hand chased with floral garlands below a band of pierced interlocking circles. Four cartouches remain around the body, one of which is engraved with a family crest of a stag's head above the initials'GEC'. The central handle incorporates a shaped pierced plaque to securely hold the bottles in place.

The cut crystal bottles comprise 2 condiment bottles with silver hinged lids, 2 large spice bottles with silver lids, and four smaller condiment bottles with silver collars and each with original cut glass stopper.
