From George III period, dated 1768. There is a 1/4 long clean break on the upper edge at one end. See pics # 4 and 5. Besides your fine line scratches, this basket is in beautiful condition. The marks: starting with the interior Stag and Crown/coronet crest denotes that is was possibly made for the Scottish Fraser Clan with the crown suggesting important family.
The back marks: Lion passant for sterling. 925, ER for Emick Romer, Crowned leopard mark is for pre-1821 for London and the N date mark for 1768. Measures from end to end, approx.
