This lovely pair of Cobalt Blue Lined Georgian salts sit on 4 cast and applied ball and claw feet. Have finely executed hand pierced work to the body which is rimmed in a gadroon border. With the addition of cast and applied swag and cartouches all round.
Although one is hallmarked in 1773 and the other in 1776 they are by the same maker and are identical. Including the engraving on the primary cartouche, so we are considering them a pair.
One of the cobalt blue liners is original with it's star cut base and the other is a good replacement. These salts measures 3.5" (76mm) long, 2 3/4".
Weighs 221 grams, and the Liners an additional 188 grams. There are 4 hallmarks on the bases of both salts. Makers Mark'RH' - For Robert Hennell I, Grimwade #2330.
Date Letter'S' for 1773 London or'a' for 1786 London. They are both engraved with a rampant lion holding a pendant or lozenge. Please see photos and send us a question if further clarity is required.
