A stunning Early Georgian vinaigrette by the famous silversmith, Samuel Pemberton of Birmingham. This was made in 1810 so it is well over 200 years old.
It has the silversmith's famous leaf design on the inside with a gold vermeil over top. It still has its original perfume sponge and weighs 17.48g. There is a tiny cut on one corner. It is hallmarked inside with the sovereign head which showed that a duty was paid on this vinaigrette. Vinaigrettes were used in London at the time when London was dirty and smelly.
Ladies and gentlemen used vinaigrettes with sweet smelling perfumes and herbs as an air freshner. The item "Georgian Sterling Silver Vinaigrette 1810" is in sale since Friday, November 15, 2019.
