The piece is a rarely found covered serving dish resplendent with the Bateman's hand-chased brightwork and an ornate pineapple finial. In excellent condition, we could find no noticeable dings dents or repairs. The hallmarks are for Peter, Ann and William Bateman, the British sterling standard lion passant, the London crowned leopard's head, the date letter for 1799, and the king's profile duty mark.
