This is a superb pair on antique Georgian sterling silver dishes/bowls made by Paul Storr and hallmarked in London 1811. They have been made with a heavy gauge of silver (each dish is approximately 23 ozs) and they are in very good condition with no repair or damage. Clear and identical hallmarks with beautiful decoration that may be a later addition.
Gadroon and leaf border, swags to inner rim and fluted decoration to the body. Quite apart from being very attractive they are practical and probably used as dessert dishes. Paul Storr is regarded as the finest English maker of the 19th century and was silversmith to a succession of Georgian kings and other royals.
