Sterling silver tray/salver 2/73 Malabar India dated 10th October 1920. The Nilgiri Malabar Battalion was an Auxiliary Force India of the British Colonial Auxiliary Forces of the British Army. The nine facsimile signatures include, possibly J.
Harvey, William Thugood Lt, H. Four signatures do not denote rank and two are Captains and three Lieutenants. Very little information is recorded about the Malabar Rebellion in 1921, but it is possible these nine soldiers were present. The salver/tray is in good condition with no damage or repairs and stands on three hoof feet.
The silversmiths were Fenton Bros Ltd of Sheffield and the salver is hallmarked 1920. Fenton Bros became makers to the War Office during the first World War. Salver is 210 mm diameter and height 25 mm.
