Superb Georgian sterling silver cast candlestick, fully hallmarked for London 1759. This is a fine quality silver cast candlestick made in the last year of the reign of King George II and first year of the reign of King George III by William Cafe in London 1759. The candlestick is of classic shape with fluted bands around the candle holder above a shaped and knopped stem. The candlestick stands on a spreading shaped round pedestal base.
The candlestick is 5 inches / 127 mm wide across the base and it stands 9-1/2 inches / 242 mm high. Made of thick gauge silver, the candlestick weighs an impressive 542 grams. The underside has clear hallmarks - lion passant, London mark, letter D for 1759 and maker's mark WC for William Cafe. The candlestick is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.NOTE: I will be listing separately an almost matching candlestick - see last picture.
